I think you mean a lot of dumb people. Anyone who is "deceived" by such an obviously corrupt, patently ridiculous, buffoon and conman is someone completely lacking in any form of critical intelligence.

Always thought this was the best debut album of the 1960s. Fully formed, totally original, complete mastery of their material.

I’m so glad I live in a parliamentary democracy. Question Period alone, where the Prime Minister has to personally face withering criticism and attacks from the opposition on a daily basis, is kryptonite to narcissists, and would have strangled the insanity Trump is unleashing in its crib.

It's true that one sees the vestiges of his very particular way of drawing with the brush, and his use of that kind of scalloped line right up to the very end, albeit in a very reduced schematic way. His work remained so distinctively his, even when everything else was gone.

Nice memory. I bought mine when it came out too, in Toronto. Saw him for the first time a few weeks later, on DD tour, at O Keefe Centre.

7th album. 8th if you include Pinups, the album of covers from 1973.

Animal Farm my fave. One of his most beautiful songs with just brilliant, moving lyrics.

Total sublimity: extraordinarily loud, melodic, emotional, ironic, commercial and deeply beautiful all at the same time. Not even sure the Beatles could have mastered that balance as effectively.

Yes I’ve often wondered about that too. Would have been extremely colourful is my guess!

Whenever these bobbleheads emphasize "Donald J. Trump", you know they have their head so far up his behind they can see last night's Big Mac.

When someone pretends not to hear or understand a question, they are buying a few seconds to get their lie straight.

What's amazing is Bowie was kind of skipping ahead to post punk before punk even happened. I heard Radioactivity for the first time in Feb 76, blasting through the PA in a hockey arena in Toronto on the Isolar tour. (Followed by opening act Un Chien Andalou, but that's another thread of influence).

There was a fantastic exhibition of PaJaMa artists called The Young and Evil: Queer Modernism in New York, 1930-1955 at Zwirner back in 2019. Beautiful hardbound catalogue as well.

The seven albums that span between this and Zuma are a pretty remarkable run, and a remarkable set of changes.
