thinking about the way the Red Line gets signs that don’t even name all the station stops

I drove 😬 deep into the Outer Suburbs of Virginialand to where you can own a few acres (but still have the peace of mind that an HOA provides?) and also spend a lot of time driving in traffic. Anyway, survived to tell the tale.

watched a person on foot make their way across the Rockville Pike/Md 355 & Veirs Mill/Md 586/28 intersection moving east to west, where there is no marked crosswalk or pedestrian signal, and there is no warning signage to pedestrians that they will not be able to cross there.
The intersection of Rockville Pike and Veirs Mill Rd in Rockville MD. 8 lanes of north-south travel lanes, no pedestrian signals or crosswalks for that direction on either side of the expansive intersection.

A shiny silver MARC train and Metro train both parked at their platforms at Rockville Station. The heavy rail platform used by MARC and Amtrak is separated from Metro platform by a chain link fence at platform level.

the real highlight of the trip: took a train 🚈 to look at a train 🚂
A SkyTrain train parked at Waterfront station. This is a 2-car light rail vehicle with bright blue and white paint wrapped around the front of the vehicle, a large square front window, and bright green flash of paint, then all silver exterior. Historic steam locomotive on display at Yaletown in the Roundhouse tourist info center. Large iron beauty, first arrived in Vancouver in 1887!

part of the joy of travel is getting to sample the local flavours 🇨🇦
A bright blue shiny, crinkly bag of Doritos, flavor Magic-Masala Magique. The marketing worked on me: on the bag a single large, perfectly triangular dorito chip with flames on its edges is pictured, along with a red chili pepper, a whole clove of garlic, and a heaping pile of ground spices. A shiny, crinkly bag of Ruffles potato chips, flavour: Poutine! Poutine potato chips! The bag features a photo of gravy fries in a cardboard boat, with a single large ruffles chip sort of launched out of the gravy fries and a graphic of what appears to be a blue neon sign that reads “Poutine” pointing somewhere, perhaps point to open the bag of chips already.
