Slaxx (2020): 3.5/5 stars

If you haven’t heard of this small-budget Canadian film about possessed killer jeans, what are you even doing with your life?

Sinners: 5 stars

I don’t need to convince you to watch Sinners. There is enough hype about it to do that for me. Thankfully, in this case, the hype is well deserved.

Stopmotion: 3.5/5

Between this and Mad God, we need more stop-motion horror films. If anything, I wish this movie had more stop-motion scenes that got even weirder and more surreal. It’s worth it to watch this film even just for the wet, creepy creatures!

Oddity: 4/5 stars

Horror rule for life: never be the skeptical white man, it won’t do you any good.

The tension! The soundtrack! The monster design! The mystery! The wonderful rabbit from Caveat! What a gothic spooky time!

Wolf Man: 3.5/5

Leigh Wannell set out to make a film about masculinity, generational trauma, and the complicated sense of grief that comes with it, and that is exactly what he delivered.

Nosferatu: 4.5/5

This is one of the most visually stunning films I have ever seen. The set design, the costumes, the colour grading, the sweeping camera work—all these elements combine to create an atmospheric masterpiece not unlike a dream, or rather, a nightmare. One that I did not want to end.

Maeve Fly: 4.5/5

Equal parts sassy and horrific, tragic and romantic, there are a ton of amazing things to say about this book. From Maeve’s compelling analysis of her own psyche to the vivid descriptions of California’s underbelly of falsehoods, I was intrigued from the first page to the last.
