So now we’re back to copy/pasting Northern York’s policy, which was written by lawyers from the Independence Law Center. The same one that, just a year ago, we protested against. Ridiculous.

If there are any takeaways from this meeting, it’s that we (the public) need to ask questions and apply pressure on our elected officials, and stand up for what’s right.

Only half an hour into the policy meeting and they’re skirting around the topic of “testing” regarding determining sex. It’s a slippery slope here.

They want to make a “proactive” policy instead of a “reactive” policy JUST IN CASE something happens?! That’s like me walking around in a bubble wrap suit all the time just because I’m a klutz and I trip over my feet a few times.

Leave it to Abby Tierney to be the lone voice of reason on the policy committee. While Brenda Cox and Heidi Thomas try and push through discriminatory policies and use made-up scenarios as scare tactics, she uses law and logic.

Sitting in the policy meeting at #WestShoreSchoolDistrict where they’re discussing a possible “sex distinction in athletics” policy. An unnecessary and discriminatory thing that we need to keep an eye on. www.wssd.k12.pa.us/Agendas.aspx

When my anxiety is really getting to me, I talk in my sleep. In the past two weeks I don’t think a night has gone by that I haven’t woken myself up with my babbling. Over the weekend, I woke myself and my husband up with my screams. There’s no way we can do this for years to come.

When I was a teen in the early 2000’s, I thought of the words in the Pledge of Allegiance as we saw an increase in violence and injustice.

I believe now, as I did then, that I cannot stand by when there is not the same liberty or justice for all, or when a blind eye is turned to history.
