Grateful. Unsinkable. People matter. Learning gives me joy. Appalling artist. Lapsed hedonist. Happiest outside. #yeg
This is Bob The Dog. He is a walking anxiety disorder with a varied and hilarious list of phobias (pigeons, wind, Canadian Tire, the “f” word, many more…). Our dragon is Irwin, named after Steve Irwin. He likes to eat, but only if you put his food in his mouth for him because he is one lazy lizard.

Having a fun day making gifts for friends. First up: geode earrings. Which will, obviously, be wrapped with geodes. Because you’re never to old to collect rocks. #artadventcalendar

Day 7: The goal this spring is to plant a pollinator garden. The first step was figuring out which plants grow here & attract friendly bugs. These are my plan. Here’s to happy chonky bees! #artadventcalendar

Memory/language issues from a brain injury made therapy hard. One day, my therapist told me to draw- and Mr Turtle was born. I hadn’t drawn anything since 6th grade. Drawing instantly became a way I cld hold thoughts long enough to process them & a way to communicate w/o words. #artadventcalendar

There is no truer friend than an old dog.

I started making things as part of my recovery from ptsd and brain injury. It has been life changing.

I’m slowly figuring out Insta and created a page for my beadwork, mostly to fund… more making! :)

(Woodwork & sewing will appear there too, but not til Spring.)

Day 3: This fall has been one thing after another. Definitely a “laugh or you cry” period. So I choose to laugh. Here’s my summary of recent events, in beadwork. 😅

Day 2: My first time working with porcupine quills. Nostalgic! My first porcupine sighting was as a young teen skiing alone through forest on a perfect winter morning. I’ve been in love with them ever since. #artadventcalendar

To whomever feeds the birds at the dog park all winter: thank you for the lovely feathered friends we get to watch every visit. You make their life better- and mine!

There’s such a thing as a Thanksgiving cactus?! 🤯🤯🤯
I guess putting my “Christmas” cactus beside my poinsettia was the holiday decorating genius I thought it was.

Just in case it stays cloudy: here’s Ursa Major from my window a few nights ago.

“I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”

I hear you on that. I don’t know when the big picture things are going to get better, but I hope you find tiny moments of good in spite of it all.

Today’s goal: enjoy every moment of this lovely weather even half as much as this guy is.

Sometimes the most marvellous things happen. We adopted this lovely green friend for a mere $2. Her name is Stegosaurus. Stoked!
