🚨NEW🚨: Donald Trump is attempting to strip away federal support for libraries. We will NOT let that happen.

Last night the President signed an order to gut the Institute of Museum & Library Services. But together, we know we can show up & defeat it.

I’m not super interested in people who DON’T have chronic illness, auto-immune disease, ADHD or are autistic. These are my people, my America, my way of life.
This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”.

This is a manifesto against disability.

This is the language of eugenics.
Establishing the President's Make America Healthy Again Commission
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1.

News is overwhelming. People offline don't understand what's happening. Their rights are being pulled out from under them. Print out these flyers and take it to the streets. Featuring a QR cosd that links to explainer and action items. www.disability-rights-watch.com/2025/02/12/t...

our town has an event called First Night on December 31 each year with live music all over downtown and teens doing circus and juggling etc.. and I can't ever go because I don't have enough willpower not to stand among the throngs and scream, "Actually it's Last Night, motherfuckers!"

Thrilled to see Abby’s book getting much deserved attention. She’s just always brilliant. I love this one so much.
Finally for this Sunday, our lead review is one I wrote, of STILL LIFE AT 80, Abigail Thomas's thoroughly winning new memoir about aging, the pandemic, dogs, writing, and more. I really adore this book. www.bostonglobe.com/2024/12/26/a...
Life at 80. We should all be so lucky. - The Boston Globe
In Abigail Thomas’s latest memoir, the writer ponders the world outside her window and inside her mind.

I've just written my first letter to the NYT Editor, in response to Jeremy Peters' anti-trans article.

It feels unlikely it will be published, so I'm posting it here so it's not lost.

Thanks, @anderlawlor.bsky.social for laying out this cornucopia of lit-events this week in the valley (although none are actually held at Cornucopia)
Hey what's up! Not sure if my #westernmass people are here but there's a ton of awesome things happening this week & some of them are actually also online... 1/6
