My kids and I have been loving novels in verse, I’d recommend Something like Home by Andrea Beatriz Arango for 11 y.o and anything by Elizabeth Acevedo for 13 y.o

My daughter and I read the Super Happy Party Bears series together when she was around grade 2. And the Hamster Princess series by Ursula Vernon is great, I read the main text and daughter read the picture captions. And any Elephant and Piggie (elephant et Rosie)
