Elder propagation in the works. Elders live steak easily. Cut elder branches apart at the nodes. Plant the straight end in soil with the nodes upright. These will be separated into individual pots to sprout until they are big enough to plant in ground. #sambucus

Toyon berry is a late fall foraging food: native to the California Sierra foothills. They ripen only after a few heavy frosts. They’re pretty astringent when eaten fresh from the shrub, but become sweet and delicious once dried. Antioxidants in toyon improve memory and cognitive function. #wildfoods
