In 2022/2023 there were 256,785 students enrolled in the higher education institutions in Ireland. This is across all modes of study. This is a 33% increase from 2009/2010

We also looked at international graduates from Irish higher education:

80% of internationally domiciled graduates went into employment. 9% were in further study and 10% were unemployed.

71% of those in employment were employed in Ireland, with 29% employed overseas.

48% are Domiciled Ireland or Northern Ireland

97% of new entrants to medicine progressed to the following year

In 2022/23, 54.5% of all students identify as female,
44.9% identify as male, and 0.5% identify as non-binary
or undeclared.
