The slower currents of presence (reading, writing, walking, or truly being) require a kind of digital spaciousness that our culture rarely invites. 💛

Social media has been a powerful way to share meaningful work, to find community across continents, to feel less alone in a world that can feel increasingly fragmented. I’ve come to see that silence, too, is a form of connection.

Am I using these tools to serve connection, or are they quietly shaping the contours of my attention, presence, and pace of being? There’s a paradox here, of course.

Even WhatsApp messages live only on my computer... not in my pocket, always within reach. I’ve been asking myself what it really means to master my digital life. Not in the sense of control, but in the sense of alignment.

I continuously am reminded that before we can truly offer kindness outward, we have to meet ourselves honestly. The practice I’m sharing today is an invitation to return to that place of inner warmth. 🙏🏽💛

But what if burnout isn’t a personal failure? What if it’s a reflection of systems that have forgotten our humanity?

Healing burnout requires more than rest or time management.

As I prepare for our upcoming conversation on burnout with Rare Beauty on 11/13, I want to begin here with this reframe.

What if boundaries aren’t barriers? What if they’re acts of love for ourselves, our communities, and the work that calls us forward?

Over the years, I’ve come to see boundaries differently. Not as walls that divide us, but as bridges that allow both connection and care.

As Prentis Hemphill reminds us, “Boundaries are the distance at which I can love you and me simultaneously.”

I’m grateful to be part of this effort and look forward to contributing to a day of honest dialogue, connection, and healing for our next generation.

This summit is an important step toward breaking that silence—bringing together educators, mental health experts, funders, and advocates to share insights and build solutions rooted in community and compassion.

For too long, AANHPI youth have been left out of the mental health conversation. The numbers from TAAF’s Beyond the Surface report say it all—too many are struggling in silence, with suicide now the leading cause of death and nearly half reporting symptoms of depression.
