I wonder if doing a BG3 group playthrough might be it? It lacks the MMO layer obviously so you'd need to organize outside the game, but it's challenging enough, it's social, and without any time pressure because it's turn-based.

Fwiw that requirement isn't arbitrary, I'm playing through it now and the plot is VERY reliant on knowing the story so far.

I've never gotten a satisfactory answer for why public health was so slow to recommend masks for a respiratory virus.

I honestly thought the campaign fell really flat compared to D3. Felt like there was far fewer cool dungeons, and more wandering around endlessly similar fields.

My first thought was that space was tricky so it needs a Dex (drive) skill check, and they wanted to make sure people had the stats before trying it.
