Here’s a different caddisfly family, Phryganeidae. It took me years to get them to complete their lifecycles from larvae to adult. The biggest issue was the transition from larva to pupa. They sometimes expel themselves from the case, but then can’t remove the molted skin and die.

I haven’t had much time this year for insect photography and most of my art goes elsewhere. Here’s an old 2024 photo of Platycentropus radiata that I reared from a larva.

Jane Goodall, the influential primatologist who changed how people see chimpanzees and themselves, died Wednesday at the age of 91.

She died of natural causes while she was in California on a speaking tour, the Jane Goodall Institute said in a statement on social media.

May be screaming into the void, but is it just my imagination that there is an inverse correlation between quality of science and publication cost? This year alone every paper I’ve reviewed has misrepresented/misunderstood citations or committed citation-error amplification.
