Here's a test on Quest 3 with a single image of the Steam Dev Days 2014 VR room as the input.

On a separate note, it turns out the mockup we made last week wasn't too far off!

Look at the ramp of the Macintosh to realign your expectations of where Apple Vision is going — and how long it will take to be "mainstream".

It helps to read the article.

Cool to see how many Quest 3 owners are also being blown away trying this at home now.

I think some assumed I was exaggerating. But as you can find out for yourself, I was not!

If the sEMG wristband works anywhere near as well as this marketing depiction suggests, this could be the beginning of a new interaction paradigm.

Unless you're fundamentally against the idea of a subscription vs a permanent library, Horizon+ is actually an incredible deal for a new-to-VR Quest buyer.

And of course, cartoon Tim Cook gives the same gift the real life Tim Cook did.

In the latest episode of South Park, Mark Zuckerberg gifts US President Trump a gold Quest 3.

Pixel 10's on-device real-time call translation (in your own voice!) is incredibly impressive.

There are models for everything you just mentioned.

The pace of progress in AI is stunning. The world becomes a different place every 6 months.

Also, for those who don't think people are using the AI features, Meta just put this out to investors:

Not one single mention of PS VR2. Doesn't exist to Hulst and Nishino.

Brutal 😬

Just as we were about to go live from AWE for our VR Download podcast, the Google Cloud outage took out our studio backend.

Now I have to get on a flight so we can't until tomorrow.

So frustrating!

Heh, so it's immersive 180-degrees yes, but it's not sterescopic, it's 2D.

It's the bottom left of this grid.

I can't use Xtadium, because it's US-only.

But here's what an UploadVR reader thought of the first NHL final game streamed to VR:

One funny aspect of Puffin though: Zuckerberg and Bosworth will have to walk back some past comments 👀

Just as phones didn't replace laptops & TVs, glasses won't replace headsets.

But the definition of "headset" will change.

"But an avatar isn't really - "

It'll be photorealistic, and every time you put on the headset it'll automatically scan your face and update your avatar model to match your current appearance.

It will look exactly like you.

Google Beam looks interesting, but it's inherently limited to 2 person meetings and fixed to a single location.

VR/MR will deliver the same feeling but for groups, from anywhere, and you'll have a shared virtual space for whiteboards, screensharing, and more.

The humanoid robots of science fiction are coming sooner than many people expect.

The advancements in the past 5 years have been stunning to watch.

Aura looks cool, but I already see the misleading headlines calling it a competitor to Meta and Apple's coming AR glasses.

Xreal devices use birdbath optics. They're designed to resemble sunglasses from the front, but sit much further out. They're not glasses in the same sense.

You may find Envision and Meta's testing of using Aria Gen 2 smart glasses to help vision-impaired people navigate indoors interesting too.

(just a prototype atm, but could arrive in future gens of Ray-Ban Meta glasses)

All the "XR interfaces should be 3D spatial, not 2D panels" people should love that these are sold on virtual stands in VR in Music Valley 😂
