just got an acceptance letter from a journal that had several sentences in all-caps bold about how you could promote the paper, one bullet of which asked for more money to make it open immediately instead of in 12 months.

when stats information was far sparser, it was an amazing and often fun place to learn, collaborate, and shitpost. bluesky could get there eventually too, though i feel that lots of the statstwitter crowd just got tired—the (privileged) world is objectively also a sadder place now than it was then
