I joined OB/GYNs from MD’s 3rd district on the Hill today to advocate for women’s health, including improved rural access to OB care & against Medicaid cuts.

We are grateful for the effort of Rep Sarah Elfreth @elfreth.house.gov & her wonderful staff.

Medicaid and Medicare cuts stand to further worsen access to maternity care.

Already, 1/3 of US counties are maternity care deserts. No access to birthing hospitals or OB providers.

A major concern given the already high rate of maternal mortality & poor outcomes.

Work requirements for Medicaid enrollment is a key part of the Congressional budget proposal aimed at cutting Medicaid.

Problem is, 92% of adults on Medicaid already work (64%) or have a reason why they can't (disabled, in school, caregiving.)

Women physicians are the backbone of healthcare provision in the US.

Studies show we get better health outcomes. Yet we remain underpaid, under-promoted, and often punished for trying to find balance.

Shoutout to my fellow women docs!

Lots going on, much (all?) of it dangerous and destructive…

But if these are your senators, can you please add a “Vote No to RFK Jr for HHS” to your calls today?

“In those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough,” she said, “I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.'”

Happy to say, it’s been a good year on the running front at least.

Three half marathons, and my first full marathon last week in Savannah.

Officially a marathoner 🏃🏽‍♀️!

Well, I made it here! Here’s hoping the search for the ideal platform is finally over. I think Latte here best conveys how I feel about this years’ long search.
