The Panasonic Z95A is an impressive TV, but it's up against three exceptional competitors this year. In most categories, the LG G4, Samsung S95D or Sony A95L managed to pull ahead, sometimes decisively.

To put it in tennis terms, it's like competing in the same era as Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer.

The Sony A95L provided the closest match to the reference monitor colour-wise across many HDR scenes.

It also won the "Video Processing" category, delivering smoother gradation than the G4, & better upscaling & compression handling than the S95D.

Aggressive logo detection auto-dimming hurt it tho.

The Samsung S95D beat the Sony A95L to win "Best Home Theatre TV" thanks to:

1) More accurate near-black luminance tracking (Sony's was brighter than reference)
2) Higher colour luminance (later-gen QD-OLED panel)
3) Smoother native 10-bit gradation (Sony's took a small hit in a firmware update)

While MLA OLED panel still can't match QD-OLED in colour volume, LG has improved the G4 in several ways to eventually pip Samsung & Sony:

1) Brightest SDR output
2) No more 50Hz TruMotion stutter with hand/face movements
3) Sharper upscaling
4) [Dynamic Tone Mapping] disabled in HDR Filmmaker Mode
