I'll say what I've said before: If the service is free, you're the product. I haven't researched Bluesky's business model, but unless it really relies on charitable donations, someone in there is making money from selling something. Cynical? Yeah. A 15-year Facebook user.

I saw a blurb in my Google news feed this morning that bsky is trying to fend off a purchase by Musk. May just be someone's speculation, but it did leave me to wonder whether the public social benefit status really has any meaning -- that is, constraints on how it's managed.

I must have been on FB for 15+ years, starting shortly after I got to UVM. Disappointed to see it go downhill, and at an accelerating rate. Let's hope bsky doesn't go the same way.
