He's not a "kid." He's an adult, with an important govt job.

The posts weren't "stupid." They were hatefully racist.

His life isn't "ruined." He lost a job.

Holding a govt employee accountable is not a "reward" for a journalist. The reporter doesn't get a cookie.

I have no particularly strong feelings about USAID but I do wonder if Trump knows that in Kenya alone this means that at least 35,000 people are now unemployed. Is this a story about aid dependency? Absolutely. I just wonder if he knows it might end up destabilising some of his putative allies.
USAID’s website has been deleted, all that is left is a note saying all personnel are now on administrative leave and personnel outside the US are to be brought home. Completely illegal, no act of congress or even executive order was signed to dismantle the agency
