These findings have implications for understanding the renal response to hypercalcemia but also for kidney stone formation, where these processes can be disrupted.

When blood calcium levels rise, the kidneys increase calcium excretion. The manuscript demonstrates that this response depends on the CASR in kidney. We also show how the CASR regulates calcium permeability at the level of the renal tubule, offering new insights into calcium transport mechanisms.
