We spent a very moving morning yesterday at the Fort de Romainville, an internment camp during WW2, during the ´’Femmes et Libération’ conference. Thomas Fontaine shared his extraordinary knowledge of the period and set out the future plans to preserve this lieu de mémoire.

Full day of papers at the ´Femmes et Libération’ conference at the French sénat today. As one delegate pointed out it felt like revenge for the years between the wars when the sénat held out against the women’s vote!

In Paris for the opening of the new expo at the @musee-libe-paris.bsky.social about Daniel Cordier. So much more than Jean Moulin’s secretary, he went on to become a great art curator and then curator of Moulin’s memory. Thoroughly recommend - on til 13 July.

As we celebrate international women’s day, I am thinking of the contributions of the many women who like Josephine Baker risked their lives working for the Liberation of France. Their participation will be celebrated at this important conference in Paris later this month.
