So happy with this poster my book history students made for me today as I was teaching them to print on the BookBeetle! Featuring my first (very imperfect) attempts at carved lino head and tailpieces from last night’s experiments.

Searching for good images of head/tail-pieces from early modern books for inspiration (trying my hand at carving some in lino so that my #bookhistory students can decorate their letterpress projects) and discovered this fantastic bunch of flickr images by Melinda Hayes from USC Libraries.

Morning book rec: I know I’m probably late to the party since it’s from 2022, but this John Donne bio is INCREDIBLE. I teach Donne but am not otherwise an expert; still finding this to be completely fascinating & a page-turner. #lit #c16 #c17 #earlymodern

I recently went on a 3-day solitary writing retreat in the woods and it was *amazing*. But whew, both my feelings of restedness and my productivity in that brief time (6k words written, 15 trail miles run, 2 novels read) really made it clear how heavy my day-to-day academic mom mental load is.
