The last few weeks have seemed like chaos for a lot of people in the world.

Here's a blog I wrote back in February 2019. It's a lighter look at chaos and some reflections on what chaos taught me back then.

This is the 1st of a six part series

My great-grandfather, late 1800's, Boer War. It's more important than ever to remember the sacrifices people have made and the lessons history has taught us... lest we forget.

Love that #Stromlo Observatory is preserving the past, leaving remnants of the devastating 2003 bushfire for all to see and learn from. Lest we repeat the mistakes of the past.

Sgt. Johnston died one year after the end of WWI, Nov 11, 1919 - 104 years ago. Further research reveals he likely died of tuberculosis. Thank you to all who have fought for freedoms we take for granted today. Lest we forget.

Dog on the Tuckerbox is a mid 1800s Australia poem. It's raucous oral telling was eventually whitewashed and a statue erected of a dog sitting, rather than shatting on the tucker box. Find the statue at Snake Gully near Gundagai.

I have two fav cemeteries and (yes I'm one of those tourists who visits cemeteries). First is in a farmers field in Tantalon Saskatchewan Canada - where I found my great-grandmother. Second is in Thames NZ - untended practically lost to nature's beauty.

Some say connecting with Rosella birds serves as a reminder of our ancestral roots. We were with friends discussing the pros and cons of DNA testing when this wild Rosella came right up to us at our campsite last evening.

Honoured to have walked around Uluru recently. Then today I read about a ceremony to bury an Aboriginal man at Uluru just over a year ago. He had been wrongfully shot by the police 90 years ago. amp.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
