We have the same issue! Giant tree in someone else’s yard that hangs over ours. They get the worst of it, but STILL.

I moved from the basement and now teach on the third floor of an unairconditioned school. It’s brutal on hot days, but I still say do it! You’ll appreciate it once the work is done.
