The actual National Allotment Society is pretty relaxed about it...

As everyone else has said, good kit and you can do it - I did it aged 5 (but Dad a v experienced walker). An alternative if you are unsure is to go up Helm Crag from Grasmere. Not as iconic admittedly but you get cracking views including Helvellyn covered by cloud & the odd jet flying beneath you.

It's a beautiful day in London.

For those who need it:
March 19, 2025 at 11:02 AM
Looking to raise the mood, Rachel says there are examples of good practice, and @mancunianmedic.bsky.social points out that generally fast track continuing care does work very well. It can be done. But it's clear that where it works well, it's where the person's needs are being put first. #NTSummit

Not a walk in the park for local authorities says Jess McGregor - less CHC funding means more pressure on local authority budgets, and significant and distressing impact on people. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:54 AM
Jane Townson from the Homecare Association highlighting the systemic agism in the system. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:46 AM
Excellent panel now, starting with @mancunianmedic.bsky.social who has lived and breathed this as both a hospital clinician and a policymaker. Reflect on what we are doing to people - patients and staff - with this clunky and bureaucratic process. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:43 AM
It's a little hard to see here, but there's been a 9% fall in the number of people eligible for CHC funding. And huge variability across the country. Can that really reflect genuine variability in need? #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:36 AM
Setting the scene, Rachel Hutchings explains what CHC is, and why it matters. The stakes are high, for both statutory sector and individuals and families. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:33 AM
Now, this is a really important session. Continuing Healthcare is relatively unknown, complex, and yet has a massive impact on individuals. Juliet Bouverie, Chair of the Richmond Group warns us that we're going to get cross. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:26 AM
So what does the audience think now...? I guess there are no easy answers! #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 10:18 AM
What does @becksfisher.bsky.social think then? Partnership won't be the dominant model in 15 years. The financial challenges in the system are probably too great, trust has been lost since the 2004 contract. We need to plan actively for alternatives. To do that, we need clarity of purpose. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:50 AM
Why are we having this conversation, Richard Sloggett asks. Access to GPs is the number 1 priority for patients and the public, but the top priority for politicians is elective recovery. The GP question is difficult, because GPs aren't controlled. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:44 AM
What problem are we trying to solve, asks @drkatie.bsky.social? GP workload has increased, roles have evolved, GPs have embraced digital transformation. Being controversial, the question is not about partnership, it's the independent contractor status, & the agility & autonomy it brings. ##NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:37 AM
We're at a crossroads, says @liamloftus.bsky.social. Carry on as we are, partnership won't exist in 15 years. Young GPs like the positive things which come with partnership, but the risk/reward ratio is skewed too heavily to risk - the financial cost, the personal toll. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Well, this room reckons the partnership model is on the way out. Let's hear what the panel thinks... #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:29 AM
And look who is dropping out. Early career GPs no longer seem to aspire to partnership. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:23 AM
This is interesting - GP numbers roughly constant (let's ignore the missed commitments to increase their numbers), but the proportion of GPs who are partners in their practice has dropped significantly. #NTSummit
March 7, 2025 at 9:22 AM
And @becksfisher.bsky.social making her summit debut, bringing policy thinking together with lived experience as a GP. #NTSummit
