Thinking about this more, the police aren't even really accountable to doing their jobs. They don't have very good track records on closing cases or getting involved in community in ways that would build trust.

The police have already barely been accountable to anyone. Police unions need to go and contracts need to be negotiated with civil rights experts at the table.
