Today’s book buy from Eureka Books. I love that store. Two stories of great finds! So looking forward to all of these. I’m especially looking forward to Becky Chambers’ book that was recommended to me. Local author! #booksky

My current read. I’m already loving it! So much I’m learning and trying to take in. Science books like this (well-written pieces that lay people can understand) are among my absolute favorite books to read.

Based on a recommendation here, I have Bury Your Gays lined up for my next read. #booksky

I took this photo down at the Timber Heritage Society. Part of me wants to see the inside of it. The other part of me doesn’t want to see what kind of mood horrors live there. #photography #ships #trains

The giant redwoods are such a dream. I always feel so lucky I get to live so close to these incredible trees! #plants #naturephotography

Flamingos are so cool. I took this photo last year and spending time watching them is kind of a neat treat.

A group of flamingos is called a flamboyance. The flamboyance at the local zoo has had a few babies. Did you know flamingos produce a milk called crop milk to feed to their babies?! #birds

I’m thinking about the new red panda at the Sequoia Park Zoo in Eureka. Im going to head there soon to get a photo.

Red pandas are amazing #mammals Their diet is 98% bamboo and they have pseudo-thumbs! Red pandas are not related to giant pandas, but they were named first!

From James Patterson’s book The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians. A three bite rule for giving a book a chance before moving on.
I’ve slogged through too many books based on guilt. Life is too short! Read what you love. #booksky

I did my first oil paintings this year. I’m really thankful for the recordings from Bob Ross’ show The Joy of Painting. Those old shows have given me a gift by helping me do something I’ve always wanted to do.

I’m hoping I can improve over the years and really love the art I share. #art #painting

A beautiful African grey parrot who was quite a fan of getting their photo taken. This one gave me a few poses to choose from. #birds 🪶

I think my favorite subjects to photograph are plants and fungi. They usually hold still and have so much we can learn about.

I spent some free time learning the names of plants as well as amateur botany.

I am loving the book culture here.
I took this photo for an art show about coffee. Tea and coffee pairings for books should be more common. A not so secret dream of mine is to have a Café/bookstore.

A sunset over Humboldt bay. I grew up in the desert. The sunsets aren’t the same here, but I enjoy the warm and cool colors mixing together before nightfall.

I’ve had lots of friends talk about this platform and I wanted to come try it out. I have so many interests and I’m hoping to partake in lots of communities here.

I love taking photos of nature and wildlife. Here’s an otter from our local zoo.
