Pokey and Porky are both here so you don’t have to choose one localized name over the other.

Stray Children isn’t really clicking with me, what if… oh hey Ness, Lucas, and Seto Kaiba are here!

Shout out to Forbidden Planet in Dublin for being the only comic book store to feature Johnny the Homicidal Manic right up there with Batman.

Recently survived a #MovieReview for Halloween (1978):

This slasher has a lot of really cool ideas that still hold up all these years later. The music is great and it's chilling to stalk people from the perspective of a killer.
Always remember to double-tap if you think you fought off an attacker!

How does she get so flat?

Other thoughts (cont.):

- I hope the success of Hades 1+2 can give Supergiant the funding to be more experimental. I'd play a third installment, but I'd prefer something more original, like Pyre.
- Courting Strife is so appropriate, why do they even give you boring mope or angry slacker options?

Other thoughts:

- The game is too... balanced? Part of what I like about roguelikes (FTL, Isaac, Spire) is being stuck with "bad" options and when everything's so viable, it's a different vibe.
- Constant progression limits my emotional investment into any particular run, you're stronger tomorrow.

What I disliked:

- Grinding different resources for upgrades felt bloated, like a roadblock keeping me from the action.
- The grind to the true ending is incredibly repetitive, I would have liked for it to have ended 20 hours sooner. Maybe a better way to track progress could have helped?

What I liked:

- Aesthetics are second to none! Incredible character designs, voicework, and music.
- Weapons are varied and there's an exciting combat loop, it's addicting to build up run after run.
- There are twice as many route options as the first game!... So yeah, two now.

By my authority, a #GameReview of Hades 2:

This beautiful action game uses fast, precise combat to deliver a banquet of gorgeous artwork and sound design. It doesn't subvert the formula from the first game, but it still feels good to use the wide selection of toys to kill thousands of monsters.

#MovieReview for Frankenstein (2025):

The classic tale comes alive again with amazing performances, magical sets, and fantastic costumes. I loved the symbolism of the color choices and can't wait to rewatch and reexplore this gothic, gloomy world.
Monster-smoochers rejoice, Del Toro does it again!

#MovieReview for Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc (2025):

A fantastic anime adaptation with wild animation, and absolutely crazy over-the-top action. I loved when art styles changed during big set piece fights!
It's big, stupid, loud, and colorful and I wouldn't want it any other way.

#MovieReview for Re-Animator (1985):

A campy horror film with some good laughs and a great soundtrack. Perfect movie for the ween season or just for the vibes!
I enjoyed it despite the SA and cat violence, which I think speaks to the quality since those are typically deal breakers.

#MovieReview for A Night at the Opera (1935):

A fun adventure overseas with clever dialogue, fantastic slapstick, and some impressive stunts. I've also come to appreciate the musical interludes in these films.
The contract and stateroom scenes are solid gold and worth the price of admission alone!

Other thoughts:

- I love points.
- I am so good.
- Reward me for points I earn.
- Points points points.
October 1, 2025 at 5:51 PM
What I disliked:

- As a game, it never feels particularly good to 'play'. Movement, puzzles, and even the camera have a good amount of jank to them. (Technical term)
- Sound mixing is incredibly rough, music and voice volumes fluctuate wildly, sometimes even mid-scene. Keep that remote handy!
October 1, 2025 at 5:51 PM
What I liked:

- The marriage of mechanic and narrative works incredibly well, it's a brilliant idea to show the "points" on screen at all times.
- The nature of the world shifts with the protagonists mindset and this makes each new chapter interesting and unpredictable.

Prayers answered, a #GameReview of Indika:

A short and sweet adventure that explores themes of religion, societal pressure, and the nature of earning useless points. The surreal story is worth exploring even if it lacks the mechanical polish that can be found in other third person adventures.

I just received the absolutely gorgeous fanzine for Disco Elysium: After Death, Life Again!

It's packed with so many cool illustrations, stories, and bonus prizes! Perhaps another trip to Revachol is in order?
