This week I need to take a colleague visiting from Malaysia to our nearest office, which I’ve never been to. Went to find it and slightly amused that it’s accessed via the train station, behind an innocent-looking door, like something from James Bond.

Being allowed out unaccompanied. Luckily coinciding with being able to reach my shoelaces. Having scorned advice it’s two weeks minimum recovery, a week in, every muscle that’s been keeping me going is actively complaining and my waistband is pointedly reminding me where the dressings are.

Day 5 post op. Stitched a repair on Bob (comfort plush pillow) and it feels like a metaphor. Felt great when I got up, now tired, muffle-headed, too warm and feeling every bruise and tired muscle. I’m an impatient patient.
