Not sure at all, but it seemed liked Wolff was trying to work on a BOOK about Epstein, requested by Epstein... so he was trying to stay on the 'inside' to get the story.
He has TONS of recordings with Epstein, but no one would publish them.

I'm not sure he was manipulating the story, I think he was mostly trying to stay in good graces with his subject so that he could get the 'real story'?
