Elizabeth Reed, whose name inspired the Allman Brothers Band’s instrumental “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed,” was Elizabeth Jones Reed Napier (1845–1935). She was a Southern woman who attended Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and later married Confederate Army Captain Briggs Napier.
