If a complaint is upheld, the paper should be forced to print any apology or correction on the same page and with the same headline size as the original article on the same day of the week, as soon as the judgment was passed. This simple action would greatly reduce the temptation to print lies.

Our electoral system means that party that attracts less than 40% of the vote can have a substantial majority in the commons. It’s a waste of effort putting forward logical arguments. Just lie, it worked with Brexit.

Any company that requires a physical presence to be able to conduct business and chooses to pay corporation tax in another country should have the amount that would have been paid to the exchequer, charged in additional commercial rates.

We have the same in the U.K. last week a prominent Conservative (equivalent to your Republican) member of our parliament stated that she had visited the wall on the land border between Italy and Türkiye and seen drones and armoured vehicles… You couldn’t make it up. (but they can).

Once elected, there are no rules that compel an MP to visit the constituency even once, nor are there requirements to attend parliament. No one ever thought rules would be required.
