Secondly: the only previous time I donated to an e-waste recycling program, somehow my old cell phone ended up refurbished and sold to someone I knew, and it had all my contacts in it still so they figured out it was mine and it was all very weird.

Spouse asked why getting rid of dead laptops is so hard for me (as I am otherwise very eager to purge junk / clutter): Realized partly, it’s nostalgia for all the writing I did on these machines (!) from bad teenage beginner fiction to college papers. It’s like throwing out notebooks! Or my brain!

Fun fact: Many many years ago, the author visited a kids shop where I worked in LA in my youth, and I was too starstruck to say anything 😂 like, selling baby gear to all of Hollywood but book people walk in and I’m rendered 😶
