And, as an outside observer, that’s what NBA intel is for ESPN, a social media play.

Ironically, it reminds me of what folks point to when they argue the NBA should have less games. It’s a matter of inventory. Building scarcity and stakes.

If Shams hops on FT every morning, it cheapens it.

If I see him once a month? And it’s real info? Now we’re cookin.

LAC trading for PG & signing Kawhi.

KD traded to Phoenix at 1 AM.

Those are real moments that ESPN should lean into.

Putting out JB ~wouldn’t mind~ going to a team with virtually no means to acquire him isn’t useful for the product. And that’s what this ultimately is.

Overexposure to “breaking news” has taken any prestige away from the space.

ESPN is overplaying Shams. Want him to make a real impact? Lean into him hard the month leading up to the trad deadline, and throughout FA/Draft coverage.

Otherwise, it becomes noise.

Oh hell yeah I gotta lock in for the Jalen section

So much of it really just comes down to the three ball. When he started red hot this season, he looked like a legit guy.

Now that he’s down to low 30s… not so much

Given that Tari has started to overtake Jabari from a pure minutes standpoint, I wonder if they think of the question of the starting lineup is truly pressing?

We’ve seen Tari start to close games consistently, and that may be the most important thing internally. #Rockets
