I tried repro using the same (and different meshes) in a different project and the same issue did not occur. This leads me to think there's just something wrong with the other project

Can anybody help explain what's happening here? when I apply a basic wireframe material to my object, its like it gives it a whole different LOD. I don't know how to fix it.
