Took part in Summer Research in Math at SLMath for the last two weeks. My group is using invariant theory to approach some conjectures in graph theory. This is the last year of SLMath's SRiM programme.

Continuing my tour of Math Institutes, I spent a few weeks at Centro de Investigación en Matemáticas (CIMAT) in Guanajuato Mexico!

The architecture there is gorgeous and disorienting.

I started a collaboration and will hopefully be learning about matroids.

My first conference where all the talks (except mine) were in Spanish. The Segundo Seminario Chichimeca de Algebra in Zacatecas, Mexico (sites.google.com/view/seminar...). I'm told it's modelled after Kumunu that rotates thru a few universities in the Midwest (sites.google.com/view/kumunu-...)

In the library on the 3rd floor of Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. This Library sits between the Geometry, Groups, and Dynamics Group, directed by Anna Wienhard and the Nonlinear Algebra Group, directed by Bernd Sturmfels.

On Sat held our first (hopefully) annual Datathon under our Data Science for Social Impact initiative. Two amazing speakers then a data visualization competition on a dataset derived from the World Bank Millennium Development Goals Databank. We had students from Harvey Mudd, CMC, Pitzer and Pomona!!

Harvey Mudd and my colleagues there came up so many times during this MAA Golden sectional meeting (collaborators, recommenders, wonderful times in people's professional lives). I didn't appreciate how influential my little department is, especially in CA.
