Broadway Sandwich Shop in Parkersburg WV was the furthest south I could find this style. Place has been around almost 100 years and rumor is they stretch out the sauce with corn starch. Also I was surprised how much I enjoy this style. They sometimes look off putting in photos but it’s delicious.

Very blessed that I got to try some Western PA Gravy Dogs (My own name for them). The style seems to stretch from northern West Virginia all the way to New York State. The flavor profile varies wildly with one constant: a slurry-esque sauce that looks & feels more like gravy than hot dog chili.

I love going down rabbit holes with 80’s / 90’s new age drink design. Spree was a small “all natural” soda brand rolled out by Shasta. 1st can (1982?-1986ish) designed by the legendary Primo Angeli studio. 2nd can (1986-1989ish), designer unknown. 3rd can (1990-199?) designed by Michael Osborne.

Sold one of these as well. Painted this more than 15 years ago. Sorta cringe at the (artistic) sloppiness of these sometimes but also it 100% looks like rustic hand painted coney island type stuff. I used to paint these in like 24 hrs now It takes me 2 weeks lol
