The only real weak element of the core formula would be the story and setting. Mostly they're in the realm of "good enough", but mostly serve as cliche excuses between point A and point B. It's fine in the first half of the game, but really drags in the second.

And the execution of everything would be nothing without the artstyle. the low poly, low res textures with large vistas environment, enemy counts, and just enough effects layered on top. It's a style I hope we see more of in indie games, and here is so well tuned to sell its cyberpunk dystopia.

And often when things start to get a bit stale, they throw in vehicle sections having you drive a flying car or motorcycle with their own unique mechanics. They're not quite as thrilling as the core gameplay, but they're more than good enough to serve as a fun pallet cleanser.

These combine along side some good variance in enemy design and location layouts to keep things feeling relatively fresh, both thematically as you get setpieces like jumping between cars and mechanically through the high mobility and odd shaped arena.

Most of the rest of the game is fairly normal weapon spreads, with alt fires and ammo just constrained enough to encourage swapping weapons. nothing groundbreaking, but a good variety and excellent execution.

The Chainsaw leg is the big unique thing in the mechanics, and it's extremely satisfying. It combines your slide and melee together to make trash enemies explode and arenas quick to navigate. A+ mechanic no notes
