Not CM related, but I remember one hectic day. Low staff, pop up issues, constant delegating on the fly, etc. Then there was a calm bit where I just needed to reassemble this mechanism. Something simple to fidget with. When a coworker came up to help I had to tell him, "this is mine, I need this".

I think OP is conflating the "contemporary standards" as being driven by the people and not the developers who choose to only build such huge eye sores for the sole purpose of selling as high as they can per acre. I couldn't care less about a large house but that's all they are building in my area.

It's a relaxing change of pace to have a platform I can go to and know I'll see things I care about and enjoy vs one where I *might* see that but also definitely get fed rage/doom bait to try to keep my attention.
