I block informationally illiterate accounts
I believe it is manifestly a shared personality trait which underlies & unifies American right wing politics: a persistent incapacity to imagine the experience of hardship UNLESS it is happening to you. Sadly i think there is a whole subset of humans incapable of empathic thought.

They’ve always loved redistribution of wealth they just only like the kind that redistributes poor people‘s wealth to the rich & the blue states’ wealth to the red states.
December 8, 2025 at 8:16 PM
They facefucked themselves getting played on the public option which was always, from construction, a critical cornerstone of the system to keep downward pressure on the price inflation that is currently unraveling it.

Even *with* the subsidies care had become profoundly unaffordable
December 8, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Fair enough but, as a native, there are places that are more local, better product, & more iconic/beloved to the city that could fill those spots better imo

Can’t argue taste tho really
December 7, 2025 at 4:26 PM
☝️

This is the overwhelming sentiment among residents & their out of town visitors.

Also can’t for the life of me understand how the “too expensive!” people dont realize buying shit at the airport is *optional* lol

trivially easy & permitted to bring your own snacks & newstand items
December 7, 2025 at 4:20 PM
What are these affordability/ease of access issues you are hill-dying on?

the *vendors* raised their prices- nothing to do w remodel.

Ease of access is better! No cattle gates! otherwise layout is identical

Ps way to ignore an actual reasoned case

Like you think differently make a case for it

Ffs
December 7, 2025 at 4:12 PM
Don’t beat yourself up like that!
December 7, 2025 at 4:10 PM
btw the remodel has zilch to do with vendor prices

& uhh yeah, vis architectural design, aesthetics ARE, point o fact, kinda the thing you experience (nobody walks thru a building admiring its structural integrity)

btw remodel’s aesthetics are well liked by every native ive heard other than OP
December 7, 2025 at 4:09 PM
skill issue

Who tf goes to an airport expecting affordable food lol

you know you can bring yr own bag lunch, snacks, magazines &c, right? nobody forcing you to make purchases there

Never in my life have seen airports be ANYTHING but wildly overpriced & expecting otherwise is, uhhhh, kinda weird
December 7, 2025 at 4:03 PM
the food vendors could be a lot better quality & rep the city more IMO. Country Cat, Cha Cha Cha, Deschutes are trash.

were I the airport king there would be a My Father’s Place, a Por Que No, an Ate-Oh-Ate, a Pho Van, & a Mary’s

fair enuff

De gustibus non pate disputatum & all that

But you are the first person I’ve heard say this- feels like mostly everyone native thinks it’s nicer but I’m prob a design hoochie

Only thing I qualm w is the poor trees not doing so good. Maybe just winter thing tho

U do u tho respeck
December 7, 2025 at 3:54 PM
Also- like, pack a lunch; not that hard. It’s like complaining about movie theater snack prices but you‘re allowed to bring yr own snacks

Needed is better food. Country Cat, Hissho Sushi, Deschutes, Cha Cha Cha (Does CCC even exist outside of PDX anymore?) all are trash.

Burgerville slaps tho
December 7, 2025 at 3:46 PM
*Nothing* is as cheap, man. & prices set by vendors- nothing to do w remodel

Vis getting around it’s the exact same layout except you exit arrivals thru what used to be the shitty back hall instead of the cattle gates (Retains iconic carpet) Only thing changed was the atrium, imo beautifully.
December 7, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Not enshittified at all

Was just there. Twice. It’s very pleasant. No question better than before- which is the majority sentiment by far. This post is literally the only time I’ve heard people shitting on it
December 7, 2025 at 3:07 PM
Carpets still there guys you walk over it to exit the building on *every* arrival
December 7, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Also the whole arrival -> exit thing is also way better

No cattle gates
December 7, 2025 at 3:04 PM
Uhhhh you live here, too, I think, but *hard* disagree. I was just there, twice, over the holiday. WAYYY more pleasant to someone (me!) super sensitive to bad design. feel like it’s common sentiment too. Most affordable snack place is Burgerville which is 😗🤌

They gotta help those poor trees tho
December 7, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Go visit it- it’s in the channel between A-B-C & D-E. You walk on it every time you arrive on a flight. Source- resident who *was just there*
December 7, 2025 at 2:59 PM
I guarantee you the second strike order was issued as much bc Hegseth & whatever complicit senior officer there just simply wanted to not have to look at the uncomfortable results on their own actions anymore & go have a stiff drink (Hegseth had already finished his Dasani bottle full of vodka)
December 6, 2025 at 4:33 PM
Having well wrapped packages/luggage on a boat is very normal maritime behavior- it’s how you keep things dry.

Ffs if they can drone strike these boats they can interdict them. It MAGA loves its precious stochastic violence so here we are.

the Texas map, hoping to gerrymander out of electoral existence blue strongholds Austin & San Antonio, is not unlikely to work out badly for Rs if D voters show up in force & soft legacy Rs dont &/or break blue a touch, Lotta Latinos gonna rethink their dalliance w Rs too. Ripe for an UNO reverse

These people need to be disbarred & actually come to think of it the state bar associations may be the institutions most able to fight back against the regime’s wanton criminality in its selective & baldly mendacious prosecution of ol Dumpy’s political enemies
