Performatiivista sodankäyntiä ilman strategista merkitystä ja päämäärää. Halutaan tehdä sotaa näkyväksi Moskovassa ja näyttää omille että tehdään mekin jotain jotta ukrainalaiset eivät vain palele pommisuojissa moskovalaisten käydessä shamppanjabaareissa.

Näin se vaan joskus menee.

Isku-iskusta-logiikka. Luftwaffe taisi pommittaa 1940 Lontoon siviilikohteita kostona siitä, että RAF pommitti vahingossa Wilhelmshavenin kaupunkia eikä satamaa. Tästä lähti sitten kehitys, joka päätyi tuhansien koneiden aluepommitushyökkäyksiin öin ja päivin hyvin rajallisin strategisin tuloksin.

My mistake, I didn't even read the year because I assumed that everything written about AI that's older than 6 months is useful only as training material.

Saammekohan jossain vaiheessa tietää millaisista johdannaissopimuksista noita margin calleja on tullut?

Sen jälkeen kun Valtiokonttori seurasi sokeasti käytäntöä ja muutti nollakorkoiset lainat vaihtuvakorkoisiksi olen vähän epäillyt heidän kykyjään.

That story went into depth and found that PE firms had been buying ER anesthesiology providers with just the express angle that these were often separate from the hospital they worked in and their fees were less often negotiated and capped by insurance firms. More room for predatory pricing.

Just wait until RFK jr. tells him that 5G causes cancer, and he'll pivot so fast his toupee will be a half-turn behind.

What got me thinking this are the stories a few years back about people who were taken to an in-network hospital for emergency surgery but were anesthetized by an out-of-network anesthesiologist whose employer was owned by a private-equity firm, resulting in a stratospheric bill outside insurance.

I've no doubt they are good people. I am not so sure about the people who employ them.

The more patients are treated as consumers the more it will lead to the same thing that happened to higher ed: Massively expanding marketing budgets and scores of highly paid administrative professionals, who form another driver of higher prices.

I'm thinking about unconscious "consumers" brought to hospital in an ambulance. There probably is already an app or a dark marketplace out there where hospitals can offer kickbacks to ambulance drivers who bring patients to out-of-network hospitals for treatment.

England was damp, cold and miserable also back then, which prompted people to invent fire.

Tämä oli ensimmäinen ennusteeni kun kuulin äänestystuloksesta:

Jupakka on houkutellut uusiksi jäseniksi sellaista sakkia, joka tulee järkyttämään jopa vanhojen sääntöjen säilyttämistä kannattaneita vanhoja jäseniä.

Uusi Suomalainen Klubi tulee seilaamaan kulttuurisotiin täysin purjein.

Crumple zones are also kind of hard in cars where driver's toes are the first impact zone after bumper. That's why even most vans have some nose/hood nowadays.

Nothing is impossible for Citroén, the company whose past cars could drive on three wheels, but solving crash safety in a car with a large rear hatch, removable roof and two open sides with sliding doors might be beyond them.

Most concept ideas eventually come out in toned-down format.

They only have one sliding door, not two, and on one side only. Crash tests have gotten harder since Multipla and minivans' heyday.

There are of course also current cars with sliding side passenger doors, but most of them are vans or van-based minibuses so same crash norms do not apply.
