Having a German spouse who lived through it all it's actually not hard to understand. The west (mainly the US) consumed the east's factories and housing, leaving all of the former citizens of the GDR broke, homeless and hopeless. They still resent it.

Every factory I see doesn't have windows, let alone the capacity to do anything with "mineral wealth".
Maybe we should have thought of that the last time a grifter sold our manufacturing base to Chinese slaveholders.

I always thought so too, but he never pays his debts. Why would he start with Putin? Nothing can break his grip on his base, no matter how compromising. I'm now inclined to believe he is just stupid.

I still can't believe how far I progressed and the puzzles I solved with absolutely NO internet to fall back on. Still one of the best gaming experiences of my life.
