So peaceful. 😍 When I went for my walk this afternoon, it was overtaken by *many hundreds* of elementary school cross-country athletes from all over the city and their parents. Look at all those plucky little strivers… that’s barely a glimpse of their full contingent! And what a stunning day for it!

Went to the grocery store - *before* coffee, in the clothes I slept in - to buy bulk spices (some of which I had to wait for staff to refill) so I could make a HUGE JAR of homemade pumpkin spice blend, so YES, I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE SEASON. Same price as a premixed bag, but there’s love in there.

The jar is labeled “Pumpkin Spice Blend” and is full of a powdered spice mix in a warm brownish colour.

I just had the rare & unexpected pleasure of experiencing Neil Young singing “Harvest Moon” live as the actual moon was rising. (Yes, I know it wasn’t *technically* the full moon tonight, but he’s 80, I won’t get another chance, and it was still an iconic moment with a true legend & revolutionary🇨🇦✊)
A golden moon that is almost full rises above the trees in Burnaby’s Deer Lake Park, as spotlights shine on a stage backlit in red, where Neil Young performs an outdoor evening show with his band Chrome Hearts.

For juice, here’s a pic of me wearing it on the way to prom in 1986 (posing with my dear old dad, whom I just texted), and another pic showing how I restyled it earlier this summer (the day before my 56th birthday) to wear to a “Prom Queen”-themed night at my women’s pinball league. We do have fun!

Using one photo already on your phone, what is the announcement tomorrow at 2?
A whimsical fairy house has been created from a tree stump. Long branches have been turned into pillars that frame the central portion, which features two framed windows (with curtains that appear to be hand-painted) stacked on top of each other to simulate a multi-storey structure, and a door with a curved transom and a peep hole. The makeshift structure is draped and adorned with bark, mosses, needles and other forest delights.

Tonight I celebrated 2 yrs of sobriety - and 3 months of squeaky clean eating (no sugar/butter/trans fats/junk food) - with organic chicken wings cooked sous-vide then air-fried, a lemon garlic yogurt tahini dipping sauce (also on my side salad) and a bubbly water, flavoured with orange blossom. 🎉

A silver tray holds a piece of artisan glassware that holds a beverage of sparkling water. A sous vide immersion wand is actively cooking a vacuum-sealed package of organic chicken wings in a water bath in a large white enamel pot on a kitchen counter. The digital temperature readout on the wand reads 160 F and the time left is 1 hour 59 minutes.

Finally back enjoying morning coffee in my patio garden after almost a month dog sitting. A few casualties from the hot weather (and plant care supervised only by the elementary schoolers living upstairs), but also a new arrival: this gorgeous Canna lily!🌺 My fears of total decimation are assuaged!

As a woman squarely in this demographic, I also wholeheartedly recommend the Australian comedic masterpiece "Kath & Kim” - 4 seasons of TV and 2 movies, and all written by the two incredible stars, Jane Turner & Gina Riley (who even play multiple roles). "It’s noice, it’s different, it’s unusual!"

The tiles & statues were specific to this game, but I handpainted the minis last yr for my 1st ever 5e homebrew campaign, which fizzled despite my best efforts. I even used sparkly nail polishes & I feel like they serve the requisite “how you like me now?” energy I'm feeling towards that situation.💃

After MONTHS of prep, on Fri I guest-GM’d a 1-shot for our grp. Used handpainted minis & made lil statues & tile puzzle tokens out of FIMO & drew a fancy dungeon map. NPCs based on Queenie, Nursie & Melchett from #BlackAdder in a #Taskmaster -esque #Pathfinder1e game. So fun! #Taskfinder #Pathmaster
A Chessex gaming mat has been illustrated with a hand-drawn map of a TTRPG encounter. The fictional location is the Great Temple of Air on Mount Zerzak in the land of Urak. In the foreground, a smaller vestibule room is depicted with round pedestals which will be home to some of the clay statue miniatures in the previous photograph. In the background of the map, an illustration of a much larger room with pedestals for more clay statues, furniture and plants, a floor adorned with decorative symbols created using a stencil, and twin staircases leading to a mezzanine and a pulpit, from which the High Priestess of Air performs her ritual and interacts with the players. Tarsem Singh’s "The Fall" (2006)? I don’t see it on your list, and besides being exquisite to look at, the dream sequences are some of the most RPG-coded I’ve ever seen.

When they said downtown Vancouver is getting rougher lately, I didn’t think they were talking about airborne attacks… but guess who got stung by a wasp yesterday while she was minding her own business? Less painful today but still itchy & puffy, so it’s antihistamines & cool compresses for ole Hez.
