I so appreciate you specifically mentioning trans people here. It is certainly worth acknowledging that the threat to immigrants is currently higher and more immediate. However, so many politicians are afraid to show trans support right now that seeing this really means a lot to me.

I heavily encourage you to look at what has happened to wages, union membership, imprisonment figures, cost of living, healthcare, welfare and disability funding, and personal debt levels. All of those have gotten worse and worse for the working class since the 70s.

dollar budget and the cuts Newsom wanted to make were $17 million of that. That is a huge amount for queer folks but truly nothing for the actual budget. I don't see how you can interpret that decision as anything other than politically signalling that he is willing to pull back govt support

This is such a baffling response. Why are you defending something like this? Other legislators found places to make cuts that didn't disinfranchise queer folks. You really, in your heart, believe that a priority of budget cuts in California should be for queer aid? They have an almost 300 billion
