Black Hand has been going to model horse shows for nearly 23 years. Anywhere from 1-5 shows a year. He’s nothing fancy, but it helped get my mom interested in what the hobby was about.

Black Hand has gone to every model horse hobby show since. He doesn’t always place but has a decent number of NAN cards. His legs warped a little & had to be straightened, but he still shows & I still get asked by my mom if I showed her model & if he won anything.

The model is mine. But she refers to him as hers even though it was my gift. The next show, I took him with to see how he’d do. He managed to place 2nd in his class. I told my mom and she was thrilled that her pony was a winner.

Black Hand the POA was waiting for me when I visited her. He was as flawless as a Breyer could be. My mom reverted to a childlike state excitedly telling me how she picked the model horse out. It was amusing how happy she seemed to have found “HER” horse.

Then about a year later my mom called & said she found the perfect model. No flaws, no rubs etc. I was surprised that she had paid so much attention to what flaws I tried to avoid when buying a boxed model.
