in the chat reassuring my peers with one of my stronger crank theories about fanfiction (writing short stories is actually very hard, they're not a popular medium for a reason, they're often very poorly structured and unsatisfying, that wordcount is hard to finesse, you are being lied to, etc)

i have once again written 70k words of fanfiction rough draft in 2 weeks. instead of becoming employable all i've done for 12 yrs is write like a million words of stuff no one will ever read, recreationally. all i'm good at is Too Many Words. except. well. obviously i'm also really good at Revisions

the part in the motorsports fanfic where you have to demonstrate the importance of racing competition to the pov character, and deepen the mutual respect between drivers as competitors........... i.e. describe the coolest thing ever (racing) with the worst tool possible (linear narrative prose)
