As an adoptee and autistic person, I can say that parents often greatly underestimate how much pain we go through on a regular basis. The focus is always on the parent’s suffering and how to get the kid under control. We need to be more focused on autistic voices and adoptee voices. 🥚

Adopting a child from a different country, race, and religion is a lifestyle change that is extrememly traumatic for the child. People who adopt internationally are not required to maintain the child’s unique heritage, which is a form of genocide. Don’t let this go unnoticed. 🥚

Anyone who finalizes a foster care placement, or finishes the court proceedings for adoption on or near Christmas Day, don’t say the kid is a “Christmas miracle” or “the best Christmas gift ever”. You are charged with taking care of kids who have gone through immense trauma.

Update on the onions: I made a delicious onion tart, pie crust as the base, caramelized onions as the filling, topped with swiss cheese. What a crowd pleaser!

Oh yeah, another reminder for people. White Americans are generally not Caucasian. It’s a misnomer from racist Germans who were deciding races based on skeleton structure. Calling white people “white” or “european Americans” is so much clearer.

Adoptees of Bluesky, what do you do to bring joy into your life? For me, baking brings me so much happiness and helps combat the trauma. Yeah, I might not have all of my human rights, but look, I made some cookies, and I ate them. Take that anxiety.

🥚 Do any other adoptees feel like they have so few pictures of themselves from when they were younger, compared to kept people? Even after I was adopted, my adoptive parents rarely took pictures of us. This is a picture of my adoptive grandma and I going out to dinner for my birthday.
