Mentorship and Impact in Global Health: A Conversation with Dr. Matthew Bonds
In this conversation, Dr. Bethany-Rose Daubman, Director of Fellowships at the Harvard Global Health Institute (HGHI), speaks with Dr. Matthew Bonds, Associate Professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Co-Founder and Scientific Director of PIVOT, and a former HGHI Burke Global Health Fellow. Together, they reflect on the transformative role of the Burke Fellowship in supporting early-career scholars dedicated to addressing pressing global health challenges. Dr. Bonds shares how the fellowship shaped his academic and professional journey, from research and mentorship to building sustainable health systems through PIVOT in Madagascar. Established through the generosity of Katherine States Burke, AB ’79, and T. Robert Burke, the HGHI Burke Global Health Fellowship has supported over 50 fellows since 2009, advancing research and innovation across disciplines and geographies.
