Capital habeas attorney and father of three wonderful adult children
Stephen Miller should be ashamed of himself (and his parents should be ashamed of him too). Precisely that kind of reasoning killed his relatives and mine as well.

What an ignoramus he is. What illegal orders? Take a breath and read one of many lengthy district court opinions conducted after days of evidentiary hearings laying it all out for you.

Bondi throwing Noem under the bus?

I don’t understand the impulse at all (give me SF, Seattle and Portland any day of the week), but I definitely think that’s true

As a diaspora Jew I think ethnonationalism is exceedingly dangerous. It was the cause of suffering in my family for centuries and I honestly don’t care who practices it. If you look at Viktor Orban or Donald Trump or JD Vance of Bibi Netanyahu and see an ally, we are on different sides.

The fascist right doesn’t believe that American Jews belong in America. They want us to live in our own ethno-state—not here.

People like Zohran believe America is a multiracial democracy in which everyone should belong.

It’s insane the latter is treated as antisemitism.

Halligan is a dope, but it’s far less likely to get under the judge’s skin than the false statements under oath that antagonized Judge Ellis in Chicago. If you want to see a federal judge lose his or her glue, do what Bovino did when he testified before Judge Ellis.

And he did all that in the great era of dictatorship and revolutionary communism, when confidence in democracy and freedom were deeply shaken, & so showed that a free society could in fact tackle massive social crisis without going either fascist or communist. That context might be helpful.

The problem in the end is this—the GOPs appetite for human suffering is unending. The Senate Democrats were left with no choices. It was going to be end the shutdown earlier or later to spare some suffering at least (for SNAP and LIHEAP recipients especially).
