Who else is reading ancient Roman sources at 5am on a Saturday morning 😅

This might be a tad ambitious but I’m looking for someone who would like to read the entire History of Middle-Earth series alongside me. We could discuss each book as we go?

I took a 1-2 year break away from Tolkien and want to familiarise myself with the texts again. 1/2

After a few months of travelling and working on myself I am back on social media 🙂

What is the best translation of the Mabinogion?

Lesson learned: don’t begin the Lord of the Rings again after midnight or you’ll never get to bed 😂

I’ve genuinely listened to this song at least 2000 times. The Fall of Gondolin is my favourite Tolkien tale and Blind Guardian encapsulate Maeglin’s torment so well

I just spent 3 hours reading Conan. The people of the Black Circle is one of the greatest stories ever written. Even better than the Tower of the Elephant.

I feel like I have so many philosophical thoughts. I need to write Harry’s meditations.

I think a very interesting essay to write would be on how the UK has fallen from a glorious empire to the state where there is no respect anymore, even for a tree which we value so highly.

I find it almost funny that my joint favourite writer with Tolkien didn’t think much of his works. Michael Moorcock’s universe, I think is the greatest fantasy universe. Even more so than The Wheel of Time perhaps. Yet you can’t even find Moorcock on the library list of the UK! Preposterous!

"Curse him, root and branch! Many of those trees were my friends, creatures I had known from nut and acorn; many had voices of their own that are lost forever now. And there is a waste of stump and bramble where once there were singing groves. I have been idle. I have let things slip. It must stop!"
