A comic page in black and white depicts a short story, a group of Amaljaa, a lizard-like humanoid species from the Final Fantasy XIV universe, walking through a desert valley that appears to be a large canyon. Some are armed with spears, while others carry an injured soldier on a makeshift stretcher. Atop one of the rocky formations, a silhouette of something or someone is watching the group from above The silhouette atop the canyon is actually a group of three young Amaljaa and a humanoid child, with big and dirty hair, observing the group below with curiosity and excitement. One of the Amaljaa soldiers notices them and signals with his spear, greeting them. The young ones become very excited. A short comic in black and white, set in the world of Final Fantasy XIV, about a humanoid kid with big and spiky hair growing up and training in an Amalj'aa tribe. In the first panel, the kid and three young Amalj'aa are organized in a line before an Amalj'aa adult whose leg is the only part shown in frame. In the second panel, the kid and the biggest of the younglings prepare to fight in the middle of a ring drawn on the ground, being watched by the other two young Amalj'aa and an adult. The third panel shows the kid being thrown face-first into the ground In the fourth panel, two young Amalj'aa and an adult are getting ready to use their bows and arrows, and the kid is having trouble trying to use the weapon, biting the bowstring and having difficulty drawing the arrow. In the fifth panel, three young Amalj'aa try to restrain a big lizard that is fighting and spitting fire. Under its right paw, we can see the kid being pressed against the ground. In the sixth panel, an adult Amalj'aa with a spear and a big pack on his back leads the group of three young Amalj'aa and the kid, in line, each one carrying a bag. The kid is shown again in the same panel, fallen on the ground and sweating, with a weary face. On this page, the child and an Amalj'aa who appears to be a shaman, judging by their adornments and bone staff, are sitting in front of a campfire in what seems to be a camp. The shaman looks back, observing a group several meters away composed of an adult Amalj'aa, three Amalj'aa younglings and a drake, walking in single file. The child has a dejected expression. The shaman offers the downcast child an amulet that appears to be made from bone or a creature's tooth. The child accepts it, holding the amulet with both hands and closing their eyes in front of the campfire, as if in concentration. The shaman takes a small pouch and pours some of its contents into their hands, then feeds the flames of the campfire ahead, which react and crackle with greater intensity.
